    NFL

While the New England Patriots enjoyed their bye week, the Philadelphia Eagles overtook them at the top of the NFL futures board. Now, it’s the Eagles who are set as +400 favourites to win the Super Bowl, ahead of New England at +450. Philly now goes on its bye in Week 10, while the Patriots are one of three road teams that bettors like in the primetime matchups.

Almost 85 percent of bettors are backing the Patriots to cover as 7.5-point favourites in Denver on Sunday night, about 80 percent of bets are on Seattle to cover -6 at Arizona, and just about 60 percent of pigskin bettors like the Miami Dolphins to cover as 9-point underdogs in Carolina.

This week’s schedule is a little light on what we’d consider heavyweight matchups. The best of the bunch could be when the Saints visit the Bills as 3-point favourites. New Orleans has won six in a row both straight up and against the spread and is now 6-2 overall. The Bills are 5-3 straight up and against the number. Nearly 80 percent of early bets are behind the Saints in that one.

We currently have three double-digit spreads on the board and the betting action is supporting the favoured squad in each of those. The Steelers are 10-point favourites in Indianapolis, the Lions are at -12.5 at home to the hapless Browns, and the Los Angeles Rams are -12 at home to Houston.

    NHL

Underdogs continue to cash in for savvy NHL puckline bettors. Underdogs on the puckline spread had covered in 70 percent of the games we’ve seen so far heading into Wednesday’s action. The St. Louis Blues are on fire and have earned a league-best 15 units for their puckline bettors with the Vegas Golden Knights sitting second overall, up 11 units.

The Winnipeg Jets are the top Canadian club in the puckline standings at 10th and they’ve earned just under two units for their supporters. In NHL total betting, Over bettors have been making a tidy profit as well with 56.7 percent of games finishing above their posted totals.

    CFL

The CFL playoffs kick off this week, but there aren’t many surprises in the updated futures odds. The Calgary Stampeders are the overwhelming Grey Cup favourite at -125, followed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at +500 and the Toronto Argonauts at +750.
